Bottom Heavy body type
Bottom Heavy BT is also known as the triangle, pear shape A frame. This body type is where the hips and/or thighs are clearly the widest part of the body.
Women with this body type usually gain weight on the hips and thighs first, then their stomach.
Goal: To minimize the bottom half and give the illusion you have more on top |
What to wear? The most effective way to counter balance the bottom half is to minimize its size.
So wear malleable non-clingy fabric on your lower half & Keep pockets to a minimum and if you must have pockets, choose in seam pockets.
Also choose pants and skirts that are darker colors or at least muted colors. Absolutely no gathers on or around the waist, it makes the waist and hips look much larger then they are.
How to Choose Pants
Let’s start on the bottom since that is the part of your body you’re probably the most sensitive about. Those of us who are bottom heavy have a tendency to want to cover our derrières and thighs with loose or downright baggy clothing.
Although you might feel more comfortable because you believe you look smaller or at least have minimized the girth of your bottom half, unfortunately the opposite is usually true. Choose pants with a flat panel front and no pleats at all. The pant legs should almost touch the ground to give the illusion of length and help offset the size of your bottom.
Pant legs should also have some width to them as well. So medium flares and palazzo pants are good choices if the pants are of a soft fabric that hangs well. If the pants are made of a structured stiffer fabric, then small to medium flares are good choices. Never wear tapered pants unless you want to accent your bottom half. Also keep your pants loose enough for comfort but not baggy.
If you have a reasonably flat tummy them by all means choose pants that are low waisted because it really gives the illusion your bottom is smaller than it is. If you have a tummy make sure the pants don’t pull in and give you a muffin top.
Whether you have a six-pack rippling across your belly or skin that never went back after your baby making years, the muffin top is not a cool look on anyone. You are so much better off choosing mid-rise to a high-rise waist pant.
soft flairs and gathers in fabrics that drape well.
