Bottom Heavy body
type Dresses
The best dresses for this body type are A line, empire
waist, wrap dress, trapeze, and bustier style dresses
are all good choices.
Empire waist and bustier style dresses are good
because emphasis are naturally on your neck and bust line and at the
same time the skirt of the dress is almost always fuller.
A line dresses and trapeze dresses are probably the easiest choices
because you just don’t have to think about them. The cut of these
dresses naturally hide or at least minimize your derrière.
Skirts
Skirts for bottom heavy body types are pretty
straightforward.
Keep the gathers and pleating to a minimum, so choose soft flairs and
gathers in fabrics that drape well.
How to
Choose Jackets and
Coats
Princess cut jackets and coats are the natural choices for bottom heavy
body types because they are fitted at the shoulders down to the waist
and flare out at the hips.A wrap coat is also a good choice
for the same reason.
How to Choose
Tops
You
get to have fun and play when it comes to tops. Almost
any top that has an interesting cut or some interesting details are
good choices. Also any color you love should work fine so long as the
tops are lighter in color then the pants or skirts you are wearing. If
you do like a monochromatic look (all one color) then just make sure
the tops have some details or wear some interesting accessories.
Another
idea to think about is, tops that have an hourglass shape.
These tops are great because they have a form-fitting look and still
accommodate your derrière without a lot of fuss. One last note on tops:
finding slim styled tunics or shorter dresses paired with comfortable
pants make for an interesting and body-flattering look. Eileen fisher
comes to mind when I think of this style.
Cardigans are great friends of this body type. They do two
things, they
add detail to the top half while adding a layer over the bottom half.
Choose high quality a line, trapeze and princess cut cardigans
for the
most flattering look. Why? Because it will look like you are adding a
style element not covering your rear.
