How to Find Tops That Fit |
Top Heavy body type
Top Heavy Body Type: also known as the inverted triangle, V frame and apple.
This is where the breasts and/or shoulders are clearly the largest part of your body. This body type usually has small hips and thighs.
Women with this body type mainly gain weight on their abdomen, chest and face.
The
goal is to minimize your top half and accentuate your bottom half creating symmetry. |
Everything is built on a good Foundation.
What to wear? Before I get into what to wear I can’t stress enough to get fitted for a good bra
That means go to a place that is reputable. I admit that because I previously worked for them I am partial to them.
Their training is excellent and the selections of bras are extensive (most of it is in the back). Don’t be shy, to choose someone who you are comfortable with and who has experience. A good foundation will make a huge difference in what clothing you will eventually choose.
O.K. on to what to wear:
The most flattering clothes for top-heavy women are to wear soft clean lines and minimal details on chest and shoulders while having some detail on the bottom half. In other words create symmetry by giving the illusion you have larger hips or a smaller top.
Choosing Tops Shirts and Blouses
for the top heavy body type
Choose either small and subtle prints or solid colors. Just remember nothing tight on the top unless of course you want to accentuate your bust line. A shirt or blouse should close without pulling. One of the biggest challenges of this body type is finding tops that fit.
How to find a shirt that’s fits: Shirts: First thing to know is you must concentrate on fitting the largest part, shoulders or breast. If you do, you will probably find, the only shirts with lots of stretch will work, and sometimes not even then. Why, because by the time you find a shirt that will accommodate your breasts or shoulders its too big at the waist and the sleeves are too long.
To fix this issue look in the men’s department. Men’s shirts go by neck and sleeve length. Look for a shirt with the right sleeve length that says “Athletic fit”. These shirts usually have lycra in them. Then find a size that will accommodate your breasts or and you shoulders. The one that works best, have darts put in for a nominal fee.
Blouses are also a challenge for the same reason, but the nice thing about blouses is they come in a lot more styles, so you can probably find one that has some blouson action going on. Think chemise or tent style that will help you in your quest. Spring and summer is a good time to find looser fitting tops.
